Do you know that you can increase  your wellness and happiness by increasing your self-worth? It is hard to be happy every day without a positive sense of self -worth.  If you’re not happy with yourself, how can you be happy about life in general? Self-worth is about believing that you have value as a person. It’s not how you compare to others. It’s your belief in your intrinsic value as a human being and it can help you improve the social, spiritual and emotional dimensions of wellness in your life.

The first way you can increase your self-worth is to forgive yourself.  You have plenty of guilt and resentment toward yourself that you’ve been carrying around for years. You chose the wrong major in college or broke up with your significant other via text. You didn't apply for a job you really wanted because of procrastination  or listening to the wrong person. Give yourself a break and vow to do better in the future.

The second way is to avoid gossiping. Gossip probably has gotten you in trouble in the past, and you know you shouldn’t do it. Try pointing out positive traits and actions in others, instead. Would like it if  your friends and family spent their talking negatively about you? Don't spend your time doing the same about others. Fill your self up with positivity it will increase your social wellness and happiness!

The third way  is to define your values and live by them. It’s important to determine what you’re willing to do and what you’re not willing to do, as well as what’s important and unimportant to you. If you’re able to live by these values, you will find it easier to set  personal boundaries and keep to  them. When you don't allow others to use or manipulate you, you keep stress down and increase your wellness and happiness. Once those who interact regularly with you find out that your values drive your decisions and actions. Word will spread, and your life will be smoother.

Most people don’t take the time to define their values. They rely on a vague sense of right and wrong from childhood to the grave. If you have done it, do your spirituality and self-knowledge compass profiles. These will help you gain a better understanding of yourself, motivation and challenges.  You can also learn more about self-awareness, self-regulation and relentless wellness by joining the Dala Compass Academy.
