Don't let your past mistakes and failures trap your mind. Don't let the expectations of others, and your emotions trap your mind. Don't trap yourself with faulty thinking and incorrect perceptions. Much of this is habitual and challenging to change, but it can be altered. You can achieve your goals if you free your mind and take consistent action. How can you do this?
The first step in the process is to free yourself from the past. Hopefully, you’ve learned a lot of valuable lessons from your past. Unfortunately, you’ve also learned a lot of incorrect information, too. You’ve learned to avoid and fear things that are actually good for you. You’ve learned to like things you should avoid. Remember that the past exists to serve you and not to condemn you. Focus on what you can do today to thrive based on the opportunities and resources that you have, rather than on what others have said about you or on the opportunities you have missed.
The second step is to make decisions without concern for what others think. Admit it. When you make certain decisions, you consider how your decision will be perceived by others. Don't allow your fear of what others think ,prevent you from making solution-based decisions. Instead of thinking of who is right or wrong, focus on making decisions that can help you get the outcome you desire from your interactions with others. Don't waste your time and energy trying to get others to approve of your decisions or actions. Remember that people admire and respect those that are willing to be authentic and be themselves.
The third step is to forget about the possibility of being perfect. Perfection is an unrealistic expectation. Life is about dealing with the imperfect. Your partner, boss, children, physique, health, finances, and the weather are consistently imperfect. Your job is to figure out how to manage the imperfections in your life, rather than finding whom to blame. This is part of the process of self-mastery and relentless improvement.
