While it is great to have expectations they can also cause stress or unhappiness if they are not properly managed. If you plan to lose weight and you discover that you are not losing as much weight as you planned, you need to create strategies that will help you lose weight and keep it off.
You have to be prepared for what you will do when the unexpected happens. What will you do if you see yourself gaining weight despite all your effort to lose weight?
Two weeks ago, one of our members asked me why he was longer losing weight despite the changes he had made to his eating habit and his lifestyle. I told him that sometimes after the initial weight loss, as you become more consistent with exercise, you may gain enough muscle that you will slim down without losing weight. Why? This is because muscle has a higher density than fat and therefore occupies less space.
The first strategy for losing weight after your weight loss has plateaued is to trend your weight loss. How? Weigh yourself every day or at least once week. Record this and graph it. Do a graph of weight and days(weeks). This will help you see the trend and compare it with your eating pattern, portion and variety.
These two actions represent the step and steps. The first step in this process is early preparation. Weighing yourself regularly is part of the preparation process. The second step is to have a plan for relevant adjustments. A situation that requires a solution can be approached in a variety of ways. However, don’t assume that because you have creative ways to solve problems, that everything will work. Expect the unexpected. Don't be surprised if you struggle to weight yourself regularly. Don't stop trying simply because you have stopped seeing weight loss. keep going.
The third step is to execute or implement the plan. Live according to the relentless weight loss strategy you know will work for you. If you really want to lose weight and keep it off, you have to be prepared to stay in moment, while fending off distractions and the harshest criticisms from your colleagues, friends or family members. According to Ike Ugochukwu, the author of A Bridge Across The Atlantic, “Improvement never ends”. You have to make striving to improve part of your daily creative strategy for trying to achieve your goals, including your weight loss goals. You do not have to get so distracted by your daily problems that they prevent you from doing all that you can to get the most out of your day.
